Articles of Digital Faith

Here is a a fun spin on the original Articles of Faith.  This post is intended to be both entertaining and thought provoking. I am not suggesting that we should change the Articles of Faith. Each article, as composed by Joseph Smith, accurately reflects my beliefs as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

1. We like, follow, and subscribe to God, the Eternal Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.
2. We believe that men will be punished for their own tweets, and not for retweeting Adam
3. We believe that through the World Wide Web, all mankind may be taught the gospel, by our sharing the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4. We bear testimonies online of the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel, which are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof, but we believe everyone can #ShareGoodness.
6. We believe in using the same hashtags that would have existed in the Primitive Church, namely, #JesusChrist, #Christian, #BecauseOfHim, #BecauseHeLives, #ShareTheGift, and so forth.
7. We believe in the gift of thumbs, prophets tweeting revelation, saints hastening the work of salvation with love and so forth.
8. We believe what is spoken at #ldsconf to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the #CESdevo's to be the word of God.
9. We believe in utilizing all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important digital tools for the hastening the work of salvation.
10. We believe in the literal following of the prophet on twitter and in obeying his counsels in our lives; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will have a 5 star rating when it is built upon the American continent; that Christ will verify all accounts that truly testify of Him when He returns to the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory which we hope means excellent LTE coverage.
11. We claim the privilege of posting our beliefs on social media according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them post how, where, or what they may.
12. We believe in being subject to terms of service and character limits in posting, sharing, and live tweeting God's laws.
13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men, including when we're online; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Elder Bednar- We are authentic and consistent in all things, we hope to edify and uplift in all things, we respect intellectual property when it comes to things, and hope to be wise and vigilant in all things. If there is any content that is virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
